I was born in Boston, but raised and schooled in India. I returned to the US as a Pediatrician - to specialize - and half my life later I am still here. I have had many transitions and upheavals along the way, leading to some deep thoughts mixed in with crazy humor. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up but it has definitely been a wild ride! Oh yes, and I wrote this book...and even though it is about this religion called Hinduism, it is also about life in general.
One lives from day to day, doing what needs to be done. Work, home, classes, family.....Yet underneath the mundane there is a Sense of Being: a belief that a greater Force watches over us; that we are here for a reason; that Something is guiding and watching over us. That's all Hinduism meant (and still means) to me.
I felt strongly about being a Hindu but realized I didn't know much about it. All the books out there were dry and tedious. So I set out on a mission to research it, and write about it in an easy-to-read way that would empower others like me to feel at peace with their inner Hindu.
Every day we hear bad news - awful things are more newsworthy after all. But good things happen every day as well, both big and small. On my journey to taking a fresh look at Hinduism I revived my faith in the human race. I think if we each do our best, and reach out to those around us to spread peace and happiness, we can absolutely save the world!
